SMC is not only interested in contributions to the realms of technology and business, but it is also dedicated to the education and development of the country is youths. The Group carries its adventurous, innovative, and entrepreneurial spirit in its sponsorship of two unique schools in Hong Kong and Mainland China.

Shun Tak Fraternal Association Yung Yau Colleage(Tin Shui Wai)

In 2003， the late founder, Dr.Yung Yau, sponsored the establishment of the Shun Tak Fraternal Association Yung Yau Colleage, and today his son Billy Yung and SMC continue to support this educational institution. The Yung is and SMC is vision for the school is to provide training and development for future professional career opportunity, for students who demonstrate promising aptitude for creative talents, such as in software design and computerized animation.

Billy Yung is and SMC is donation and sponsorship—including state-of-the-art computing equipment, animation software, and a supercomputer designed and produced by SMC subsidiary Galactic Computing—are ensuring that students have the resources they need to master computer animation, science and technology disciplines. The school was the first one in Hong Kong to offer 3D computer animation as a regular course. These students have achieved international acclaim and won many  international competitions sponsored by Intel, Microsoft, and government-lined accolades. In 2006 and 2008,  its high school students beat all eight universities in Hong Kong in the Microsoft Imagine Cup Competition to represent Hong Kong in the final world-wide Imagine Cup Competition in New Delhi and Paris respectively. Between 2008 and 2010, students also won all the major awards in the IT Challenge at Monash University Melbourne, Australia (winning seven awards in 2009 and twelve awards in 2010, and winning the championship in the “3D animation international category” for three consecutive years).

It is clear from these varied and continued achievements that SMC is spirit of creativity and excellence is carrying over to its community contributions and has become the philosophy guiding a new generation of students.

Shunde School

In 1983, the late Dr.Yung Yau contributed to the establishment of Shunde Lunjiao Yung Yau Middle School, in his hometown Shunde Lunjiao,This school has come to be renowned and is being officially promoted as Foshan City is First Grade Middle school,with signficant demand for enrollment due to its reputation for quality education.Because of this inccreased demand and the desire for Mr.Billy Yung and SMC to continue sponsoring this worthwhile initiative,Mr.Yung and SMC made further donations and contributions to develop on a site of 120,000 square meter a new campus for Shunde Yung Yau Middle School in 2010 and give more children the opportunity to gain the knowledge they need to build their livelihoods and contribute to society
